Today’s headline out of Mexico came from the president’s twitter account. He announced the re-arrest of “El Chapo”. Arguably one of the people who most has taken advantage of drug prohibition in world history, Joaquín Guzmán Loera’s renown has reached the level of legend. For some he is a poverty-to-billionaire success, but for many his name is associated with addiction, murder, and transnational crime. To obtain some depth in the background and size of this story, Roberto Saviano’s book Zero Zero Zero is a good place to start.
