Essay Topic: You are invited to compose an essay discussing Ghandi’s quote and the relationship between community service, education and leadership, particularly in the context of how these can improve our world. You are encouraged to discuss personal experiences such as humanitarian work you have undertaken or plans you have to use education and leadership to contribute to your community.
Details: Open to students who have taken language courses with the Department of Foreign Languages. Essays should be no longer than two pages and must be written in either English or any of the languages represented by the department (French, Italian, German, Spanish, Arabic).
Evaluation Criteria: Importance of contribution and clarity of expression.
Deadline: Essays must be received by 1 March 2012.
